There are over 300 coaches in the English Junior Coaches and Organisers Association.
We have however decided to list the coaches who have applied via the new English Chess Federation Registered Coaches Scheme. The reason for this is that the association feels that the ECF Registered Coaches Scheme is by far the best scheme developed by the ECF in a long time. It was launched in May 2021, and we look forward to further phases of the scheme.
Potential further phases could include:- ID cards for coaches
- A beginners’ course and guide for coaches
- Live coaching assessments in classrooms, including shadowing
- Exams based around landscape of chess coaching in England and around basic chess concepts
In order for the English Chess Federation to look at further phases, it would require over 150 coaches to sign up to the scheme. Currently the number is over 100 and climbing.
